This meme speaks volumes for the transition I’ve been going through for the last two years. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to be my own best friend, my biggest supporter, even my own lover. The first rule of being a good friend, support or lover is to accept everything about that person or oneself. The good, the bad and the ugly.
Embracing those parts of myself is how I birthed So Chill.
What is So Chill? It’s a blog (duh) but also a lifestyle. My lifestyle. And if you’re reading this blog, it’s also your lifestyle.
Chill has several dictionary meanings but the one I prefer is the North American, informal definition of “very relaxed or easy going”. This version of Chill is how I best describe my overall personality. Chill is also an acronym for my hometown, Champaign IL.
Champaign has played a huge role in the person I am. To know my hometown is to know me. Like Champaign I am professional, with a blue collar attitude. I am book smart with a hint of street edge. I can easily befriend people from different cultures and backgrounds. I have experienced big city living but prefer the comfort and simplicity of rural Illinois. After all, home is where the heart is.
So Chill in essence is me embracing who I am which also incorporates the town that raised me. Chill is a concept anybody can apply. You see, it isn’t just about where I’m from or where you’re from. This is where the lifestyle portion kicks in. It boils down to embracing who you truly are regardless of outside influences, living life to the fullest, learning from your mistakes and continually striving to be your best.
So Real, So You, So Chill
